7 News of the Pope’s demand to kiss his foot reaches us. We arrive in Ferrara. The Patriarch opposes the Pope’s demand but they reach an agreement. We remain on board and spend the night on the ships.

8 The Marquis of Ferrara escorts the Patriarch to the palace. The Patriarch meets with the Pope.
